First Issue Very good+ in its original, staple bound, decorated red cloth covered boards with gilt text stamped on the spine together with with a black illustration of Huck climbing through a window and with gilt text stamped on the front board with silhouettes of five boys and an elderly lady about to whack Huck with her umbrella. A very nice copy of this American classic is quite collectible condition.įirst Edition, First Issue. 1) an erroneous page reference "88" on page 13 later changed to "87" as in this edition (BAL's point 2) 2) the misprint "with the was" on page 57 has been corrected to "with the saw" (BAL's point 3) and 3) the misprint "Decided" on page 9 has been changed to "Decides" 4) has the second "%" being a bit larger than the first. Although this is a first edition it is a later printing with mixed points, book is clean, complete, and tight. Drapery on which the bust rests is not visible on the frontis piece indicating a later issue. Kemble dated 1884, followed by a picture of a bust of Mark Twain with a tissue guard in between. Beautifully rebound in green leaterh with 5 raised bands and four circular gilt devices on the back strip with MT (Mark Twain) in the middle of each.
